It has now been 17 years since I last smoked I am so thankful and grateful.

When I started to feel better I went to church on a Sunday evening. That Sunday evening service was so intimate. I went to the altar for prayer and I can remember talking to God and saying to Him, “Alright God you said that you wanted to baptize me in the Holy Spirit, but my Temple was full of pollution such as smoke. I haven't smoked in weeks, now I’m waiting on you.” I know I am bold, but I believe God is not timid when we remind Him of His word or promises toward us. At that exact moment I spoke in tongues for the first time. God Himself stretched me out in the floor. My relationship with God is so awesome— He is my Friend, my Father, my Daddy, my Counselor. I can go to God just the way I am, knowing that He loves and cherishes me. I experienced Him in a different way that night. But then something happened, I got scared. All the negative thoughts and dreams of being locked up crawled back into my mind. I ran from what was calling me to do. I decided to go another route. I always had a passion for young people, but that was not what God had in mind for me. I thought “How do I reach the young people of today?” They cannot relate to Amazing Grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. So I decided to form a step team and dance ministry with drama. The name of the ministry was titled ‘Sold Out For Jesus.’ I gained a lot of support from the parents. I wanted everyone to know what this ministry was about and what was required. I truly believe this principle in leadership: set your standards high and those that are not committed will fall off. We would practice for hours during the week and sometimes on the weekends. I had a lot of support from two particular ladies from my church that had the talent to teach the steps. God always has a ram in the bush. It was soon approaching July 4 and our church was having a celebration for the veterans. That was the Sunday that the steppers would make their debut. We also had a young guy who performed a Christian rap.
